Meet Joe Friday's new partner...
I don't think Joe Friday was a vegan, but maybe if he'd had a pig for a partner, he would've realized how amazing they are and he would give up eating meat. Anyway... I designed this shirt for The Vegan Police. $10 from every shirt sold goes to the Ruby Ranch Pig Sanctuary. It's for a good cause, and it's a funny shirt. You should get one. FUNNY (not funny)
I was in this great exhibition of "Black Humor" comics art curated by Ryan Standfest at a gallery in Detroit.
I just received a copy of the exhibition catalog in the mail, and it's a beauty! A great collection of dark comics by a whole lot of great cartoonists. You should order one from Ryan now! Or get it at Desert Island Comics in Brooklyn, Quimby's Comics in Chicago, Chicago Comics, or Leopold's books in Detroit. It's also available from Amazon.

Wanna buy some Blot art?
"I wanted to create sort of a generic, nameless man that I could do anything with; a character that could represent me or anyone else. But when I started this series of paintings with him, something still felt stifled about the way I was working. That's when I started dropping ink on top of the paintings. I would finish one, lay it on the floor and drop ink on it to break myself away from the preciousness of constructing a picture... Pretty soon, those ink blots began to take on a life of their own. They became a conceptual element within the paintings as well as a formal abstract element.... After doing a lot of these, some of them started to feel connected, so I began writing a story around them. The process that has grown out of this is that the paintings serve as a space for me to freely express some stream-of-consciousness ideas without having to worry about the bigger picture. Then later, I come back and see if they work their way into the comics... I had all of these short stories worked out that were based on paintings... I tied all those short stories together with some autobiographical elements, and that's what became the final book "The Blot."

I love books...

I know Penguin already had Tony Millionaire do the cover for Moby Dick (even though I begged for that opportunity), but I'm still kinda disappointed that nobody had me on their list...

Covered Art Show at Secret Headquarters
The Covered Art Show is up at Secret Headquarters right now. Opening night was packed with people despite the rain, and we had a good time.
In addition to my version of Dick Briefer's Frankenstein #18 (above) that is for sale at SHQ, you can also purchase these other covers I've done in the last year (below). You can buy online or at the store. Contact SHQ to inquire about buying these paintings. And check out the rest of the amazing art that is in this show on the SHQ flickr.
